Ong: We oppose K'tan Tengku Mahkota's statement

Well done Ong Ka Ting.

Non-Malays Should Not Seek Equality
God make everyone equal. Why is this Tengku Faris acted and say otherwise? Is he above God? I suppose he needs to see a doctor.

©The Sun (Used by permission)PETALING JAYA (April 14, 2008): MCA strongly opposes remarks that "it is inappropriate for Non-Malays to request for equal rights".MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said in a statement yesterday that he disagreed with the statement made by the Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan Tengku Mohammad Faris Petra that "it is inappropriate for non-Malays to request for equal rights".
"Such a statement will destroy the unity and harmony between the various races and it will not benefit our multi-racial society. For the past 50 years, the various races have worked hard together to attain the goals of nation building, for which they have also contributed vastly to the country’s development. As such, they too have equal rights as enshrined in Constitution.""Article 153 of the Federal Constitution states the special position of the Malays and the natives of any of the States of Sabah and Sarawak. However, this should be read alongside with Article 153(7) which also reads that 'Nothing in this Article shall operate to deprive or authorise the deprivation of any person of any right, privilege'"."The statement by Tengku is inconsistent with the Barisan Nasional’s stand on racial unity which stands for fair and equal partnership."

Let us have the Great Malaysian Picture!written by Tan Peek Guat, 15 April, 2008 at 10:13 am
We want the Great Malaysian Picture! With respect, I really wonder if the Crown Prince of Kelantan ever believes this to be so - that our country is MALAYSIA, and that our citizens are MALAYSIANS; or, is he still harboring the age old traditions and ancient beliefs of selfishness, restrictiveness, inequality and injustice? First and foremost, it is indeed disappointing to our rakyat - to know that the Crown Prince is harboring such a negative and restrictive view over some of the rakyat - even as the rakyat work together for the betterment of the whole nation. We, the people, are the assets of the country! Therefore, instead of being retrogressive - in this age of internet and cyberspace, it is time for all leaders to know and understand what 'sharing' and 'caring' of citizens - is all about. How can one expect the rakyat to unite when they are not fairly treated? We certainly need to be sincerely honest to this truth - in ourselves. Furthermore, as a Crown Prince, surely he expects all his rakyat to love him - which love can only be cultivated and motivated if he loves them all ! This is because only love begets love. Why should the Crown Prince be so anti some of the subjects - instead of calling for unity and peace and working towards the peace and prosperity for the whole country at all times - as the main priority ? In perspective, we need to really assess the capabilities of all leaders, and especially, their sense of leadership - at least to be of such calibre as is needed to cultivate peace within our nation. Without peace, there shall be no prosperity. Whereas with prosperity, there can always be ample goodness for ALL MALAYSIAN CITIZENS - not just one ethnicity - to share - especially when everyone works hard towards its welfare! For the sake of Malaysia, then, let us all change our mind-sets - to share the big picture, and the bright prospects in cyberspace - instead of enthralling in our own little primitive 'cocoons'! Thank you. Tan Peek Guat
